President’s message calls for tackling legal, security, governance challenges
President Xi Jinping called on Sunday for strengthened cooperation among countries to explo
re opportunities of digital, internet-based intelligent development and to properly address le
gal, security and governance challenges arising from big data industry development.
He made the remarks in a congratulatory letter to the China Internati
onal Big Data Industry Expo 2019, which kicked off in Guiyang, Guizhou province.
The new generation of information technology, represented by the internet, big data an
d artificial intelligence, is booming at present and has significant and profound influence on various cou
ntries’ economic development, social progress and people’s lives, Xi said in the letter.
Young people shall work hard in learning the Marxist stance, viewpoints and methods,
mastering scientific and cultural knowledge and professional skills, and improving their humanistic quality.
Fine morality of young people called for
Chinese youth of the new era should be grateful to the Party, the country, the society and the people.
Young people shall nurture and practise core socialist values, and guard against wrong id
eas such as money worship, hedonism, extreme individualism and historical nihilism.
Nurturing young generation is whole Party’s political responsibility
Communist Party of China should shoulder the political responsibility of nurturing
a new generation of capable young people who have a good and all-round moral, intellectual, physical, and aesth
etical grounding in addition to a hardworking spirit, and who are well-prepared to join the socialist cause.
We should listen to young people’s views on social issues and phenome
na, as well as their opinions and advices on the work of the Party and the government.
Under a pilot scheme, the first group of six provinces and cities sold 6.8 billion yuan in bonds
at commercial bank counters to individual buyers between March 22 and early April.
The coupon rates are between 3.01 percent and 3.33 percent, higher than treasury b
onds issued by the central government as well as bank deposits with the same maturity.
Gross local bond issuances hit 1.18 trillion yuan in the first qua
rter, compared with only 219.5 billion yuan in the same period last year.
The total quota for 2019 local government bond issuances is 3.08 trillion yuan, according to the Ministry of Finance.
“About 60 percent of the bonds were issued for ongoing construction, especially
for shantytown renovation projects, railways and roads,” said Hao Lei, head of the ministry’s Budget Department.
While debt financing continues to grow, the government is experiencing sharp declin
es in fiscal revenue growth, especially from tax and land sales, official data showed.
Croatia, April 13 — China and the Central and Eastern European Count
ries (CEECs) on Friday agreed to enhance connectivity to achieve more development.
The agreement was part of the Dubrovnik Guidelines for Cooperation between China and t
he CEECs, which was released after the eighth China-CEEC leaders’ meeting in the Croatian city of Dubrovnik.
According to the guidelines, China and the CEECs are willing to pro
mote railway projects cooperation in line with respective laws and regulations and through
consultations, in particular by strengthening exchanges and cooperation on railway planning, railway organiza
tion development, management, technology development, logistics and freight terminal construction.
China and the CEECs will jointly explore utilization and construction of logistics hubs, said the guidelines, adding that China is
welcome to participate in joint development of new freight lines in connecting markets in Asia and Europe, u
nder the understanding that it respects the principles of transparency and non-discrimination.
“The Belt and Road Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping in 2013 has touc
hed the hearts of the Azerbaijani people, as the restoration of the ancient Silk Road i
s for the benefit of the entire world, and the development and prosperity of all countries,” Hajiyev said.
“The Belt and Road Initiative is not imposing anything on anyon
e, it just provides a framework for mutually beneficial cooperation,” he added. The fundam
ental features of the Belt and Road Initiative are that every country knows how to de
velop in their own way. As China and Azerbaijan have a strong traditional friendship, Hajiyev believes the init
iative will provide immense opportunities to bring China and Azerbaijan closer.
According to Hajiyev, Azerbaijan fully supports the initiative, and
is building new bridges of cooperation and frien
dship. “We are looking forward to the second Belt and Road Forum for International Co
operation at the end of this month, and Azerbaijan will actively participate in this high-level event,” he said.
